I know songbirds don’t get nearly as much attention as the corvids, the owls, and other birds of prey… but bird song is its own kind of Magick and absolutely my FAVORITE part of loving birds. 🎶🎵
This dapper bird is a large sparrow with black, white, and rufous feathers and a striking red eye. If you have never noticed, they also have very large feet! They use them to scratch around on the ground (much like a chicken) moving aside leaf litter and twigs in search of seeds.
My correspondences for Towhees:
🖤 Beauty and confidence- with their handsome good looks and simple understated song, Towhees make their presence known even though they tend to spend most of their time on the ground amidst the brushy, shrubby understory of forests and forest edges.
🧡 Self-PROTECTION and adaptation- Towhees have long tail feathers that come out easily if being chased or caught in the grasp of a predator’s claws or teeth. This helps them escape with their lives even if they do have to grow back their feathers.
🤍Focus and discernment- spending much of their time on the ground fussing about on the messy forest floor, Towhees use their keen eyesight to uncover seeds. They have a critical eye that notices small things and helps reveal opportunities.
