🪽Hermes Messenger of the Gods
Hermes is the son of Zeus and the nymph Maia, born on Mount Cyllene in Arcadia. As herald and messenger of the Olympian gods, he moves freely between the divine, mortal, and underworld realms, identifiable by his winged sandals, his traveler's hat, and the caduceus, a staff entwined with two serpents.
Hermes is the patron of travelers, merchants, athletes, and thieves, and serves as psychopomp, a guide who led souls to the afterlife.
His cunning was evident from birth: within his first day, he reportedly invented the lyre from a tortoise shell and stole Apollo's cattle, then bargained his way out of trouble by offering the instrument as a gift.
Hermes endures as a symbol of communication, commerce, and ingenuity, and his influence is still visible today in the caduceus symbol and in the word "hermeneutics," the study of interpretation.
I had a custom request for a Hawk-tail whisk inspired by the cunning and quick Hermes, and I thought I would try crafting a turkey-wing while I was at it. I wish the video would do justice to the gold twine- my first time using it. It won’t be the last. That’s for sure!
